I’m toying with buying one as I have some Amazon vouchers that I can use. Do I go for a dremel or just a cheaper one? Recommendations appreciated.

Personally I prefer a quality one. First corded one was a B&D wizard? and I now have a dremel. I have had a Lidl cordless one and found it useless. If I need to use my dremel on board, if at mooring I have mains power and elsewhere I use an inverter to provide power.

As for brands:

Dremel is owned by Bosch
Dewalt is owned by Black & Decker / Stanley
Ryobi is with Milwaukee
Makita and Hilti on their own

They have it in their power to aim products at target groups and ensure you pay for what you get.
If the thing you buy then works for what you wanna do is a different matter...

Various Chinese knock-offs are lottery tickets.
