Tough luck. Stuff obviosuly designed for boaters who never use their boats (let alone for 2500 mile trips).

P.S. Hi Diana, saw a car with registration plate "D1" last week and thought of you!

Errrm, bit simple, me. So could you explain in simple terms why the whole lot needs to come off, right now? So there's some damage at either end with a bit of water ingress. So what does that mean, then? If the water's affecting the glue, it should all be falling off by the boat load, no? If not, then what's wrong with sticking some fresh stuff over the damage, and sorting it all out at your leisure? Is there something odd about Puerto Solente that means she'll turn into a mobile reef in a matter of days without antifouling?

I was clearing out my Dad's study and found an old Practical Boat Owner magazine dated from 1992. In it a letter about the very same thing, except that time, they used self-adhesive nickel as the sticky-on metal. Of course, it failed miserably and the glue was blamed. Me thinks that in another 12 years we could be having this discussion again as new attepts are made with new adhesive!!!

Good crusing
