I have the YM offshore sail qualification and would like to do the exam to extend it to power as well.

Could anyone who has been down this road give me some idea what to expect??

It'll be noisier but you'll find beating easier. Boom boom. (Sorry. Stuck at a desk & no sailing today)

John ,I Checked out your profile. Anyone with a nic 26 cant be all bad so Ill let you off this time considering the circumstances ,having to work etc.

At 10 am this morning we had gale 8 imminent for our area which sent people scuttling back to their moorings. It hasnt materialised yet ,I hope it doesnt give people retuning home by boat tommorow a bank holiday bashing.

Being behind a desk can appear attractive when your out in shitty weather.

In my own case, I took the power conversion a few years after the sail exam. Five days spent with sailing school followed by a few hours for the exam. Exam just included some high-speed navigation, MOB exercise, parking on some piles and some marina berthing. Very much easier than the sail exam and nice and dry too most of the time. Go for it!

I think you just need to dumb down on the Colregs, buy a shell suit and get your quiff permed. you should be fine then.

I believe a chest medallion is widely recognised as the equivalent of a YM(motor).

There is a saily version of this, awarded to all those wearing a bead necklace and Oakley sunspex.

So a medallion + bead necklace and oakleys would be a pwc ym?

"I look up to him because he is a Twister owner. I look down on him because he is PWC owner. I am a stinkie"
