convert outboard tank to inboard

Hi i have this tank which is an outboard tank it nice and big at 50L

i want to put it in the corner of my new restoration boat out of the way

so i want to convert it to a fixed tank

is there a way i can*attach an inlet pipe to a filler cap*

it'll also need a fixed vent i'd of thought but how would that work being petrol or would it need to be 1 i can close and open as needed?

Fixing it won't be an issue as i can make up some stainless traps and bolt it to the floor

surely you'd fit the outlet of the new tank to the inlet to the engine, you should find this at the bottom of the existing tank.
b4 a small filter and b4 the carb.

i'm going to still have my outboard engine so the outlet will stay the same with a flexible pipe with bulb primer.
it's purely the filler and vent i could do with knowing if i can change pls

Something I have often thought of doing myself but I have not solved the problem of fitting a filler hose, either in place of the existing cap or separately.

Provide the tank wall is thick enough to tap a thread for a fitting a new vent should not be difficult, It should run via "swan neck" to a deck vent. No need for it to be one that can be closed However I doubt if it is thick enough.

I dont think it would be sensible to fudge something for petrol. More sensible to obtain a tank with the relevant connections/ fittings in place and sell the existing tank!

You could try plastic welding, there's lots of YouTube vids or something like Blue Magic 6522K QuikSteel Plastic Tank Repair Kit, that's assuming you have a longer filler pipe to attach

I think that frigging anything to do with petrol is a very very bad idea

If the thread is right then one of the larger hose tail sizes ( 40 or 50 mm) should fit the bill for the filler .... good find!

Just leaves a vent connection to sort out

For petrol you are playing a dangerous game and I'm pretty sure it will be thrown out by the bss, better to spend more on a proper setup and live or stick to portable setup.
