Continuing small boat sarga

I priced it up 12 years ago from Brittany to Algarve and it was 3k euros. Then on top of that add the cost of uk distance and ferry costs for the truck/ boat. Then factor in annual increases and increased fuel prices. On top of that there are the costs of import and vat. Then on top of that the inspection and registration costs onto the Portuguese register.
I'm in a similar position again now and ideally would like to buy a small boat cheaply in UK and transport it down to the Algarve.. The transport costs and hassle of importing it and legalising it make it an expensive option. It's cheaper overall to buy locally even with the inflated prices down here.
The problem is in finding something desirable though.:(

We had a Beneteau First 26 for about 4/5 years. Fantastic little boat and even managed to sleep 4 on it with relative comfort! The swing keel is also quite handy. We had twin axle trailer for it, so we were able to bring the boat home for maintenance but having said that, I wouldn't want to be hauling it back and forth for a day or even a weekend of sailing - partly due to the weight and partly due to the frigging mast. We managed to lower the mast once on our own and I swore never again - certainly not without a bloody boat lift or a crane. You are better off with something smaller if you want it on a trailer.

No too many mountains to climb looking at Marina based boat probably in Vigo in wifes home village(that was)

You wouldn't go far wrong with something like a Beneateau First 26. We refrigerated the ice box, installed a Webasto for heating, added an electric fresh water loo and increased the fresh water capacity, converted the loo to a shower and loo and added a gas BBQ to the stern rail.

We even cooked a roast duck, with roast potatoes and veg on that little boat!

Blimey…..?

It was the best specced Beneteau First 26 out there! :ROFLMAO: Absolutely no need to forgo life's little luxuries and I do realise hygiene is a 'luxury' amongst some of the MAB sailers on here.;)
Might get back to you on this topic although the boat is 27 foot probably not much difference, the wife would like the shower…..could be a selling point?
