Contessa 26 Standing Rigging Please Help

Re: Vindvane = Windex?

If your boat has a blue ensign you really should cut your telltales from Marks and Spencers bags . /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

These are very sophisticated streamers ....

because they tell you what the genoa and main tell-tails don't tell you: Beating (leeward stroop): flying flat = OK; flying up = pointing too high; flying downwards = sloppy helming /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Ditto (with modifications) - reaching and best of all running /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And all for free /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The trouble with Tesco's bags is that they aren't UV resisting and have to be renewed every 6 weeks whereas Waitrose bag loops last a whole Irish Sea summer and winter long. Sainsburys bags aren't as good as Morrisons ... but when whatever bags are cheaper than chips, who cares as long as a) the streamers work and b) they are of more use than a masthead windex because they spill the real wind info at the critical genoa/main CofE.

I don't hang my head in shame anywhere alongsdie/rafted up/etc .... but I do do a whole heap of explaining why I have tattie tatters drooping from the capping shrouds ... and after explaining the joys of marinised freebies, I enjoy the complimentary beers and banter /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
