Depends how much and what you want to insure. A certain amount of cover is normally included with your boat ins. If you want a higher level, you can add it on, as we did with Bishop Skinner. It is, however, impossible to get cover for valuables, and we tried very hard.

if you have a fancy car, be sure your keys are covered.

I met a man whose boat had sunk at short notice, taking the keys of his BMW with it. Replacements cost a lot of money and weren't covered by his insurance(s).

Well, you probably wouldn't expect your car insurance to cover you for a set of boat keys. But I daresay they were covered on the car's policy.
