Can I connect the shore power live wire direct to the positive terminal of the battery or do I need to fit a galvanic isolator between the anode and the plastic through hull?

Dunno, but if you don't use special "marine" tinned cable whatever you do fit will fall off, either almost straight away or exactly when you need it, like during a whale strike.

Can a plastic boat ever be a "classic"?
