Connection C120 to SmartPilot ST6002

I have the computer, controller and a hydraulic pump etc. yes (all to set boat on a coarse).

At the moment I have just the fluxgate compass and rudder position sensor as inputs to the computer, and it would be also interesting to have the gps input. (I would like to go from point to point etc.)

I see from documentation that the computer has both NMEA and Seatalk inputs. I also see from documentation that gps data can be connected to the controller unit by NMEA connection, and further from there to the computer with a seatalk cable. Is this preferrable? :)

To me this seems like:
- C120 to AP controller via NMEA cable
- AP controller to computer via seatalk cable

In this way I can still keep the gps connection to the C120 as is, and just add the two new cables I my idea.

Am I right?

Or maybe better, only one NMEA cable from C120 to the computer directly. I guess I have to check my system better before a have the answer.

Connections may vary depending on the course computer and other stuff you want to use. But, i'd be looking into connecting everything together with Seatalk. You need various data to be exchanged between units and Seatalk should be the best solution, leaving the single NMEA port on the C120 for something else.

How can the C120 be connected to the SmartPilot ST6002? I would like the AP to have the GPS data. thanks.

I have the exact same set up but both the C120 and the ST6002's course computer have their own GPS receiver/mushroom and connected through 'seatalk'

dont forget to turn on the AP function on the C120 , i the right hand corner of the C120 you can see the AP icon without little red cross if its connected , same as the AIS, Radar and depth

I usually dont use chart plotter to control autopilot as I find it a lot easier using just the autopilot control and then you dont have to keep changing windows on the C120.

You should be able to connect this whole system using sea talk cables, it is one of the simplist systems you can get
