Does anyone use those standalone condensation moisture traps instead of a dehumidifier over the winter lay-up period? Are they effective? Thanks.

Hi
a tip from my ditch monkey days, buy a large bag of kitchen salt and top up bowls with the stuff and place in strategic places, it kept the caravan damp free for the 2 months of closed season.
you can then throw the salt away or mix it with water and use it for catching razor clams !!!!

That brings back memoeries. Walking backwards at low water across Studland. Watch for the squirt of water then pile in the real salty stuff out of a fairy liquid bottle.

Pretty much. They are irritated by the salt and will either burrow deeper or will rise majestically to the surface. Pull very gently or they will break. Look vaguely obscene once out but quick fried with a little oil, garlic and herbs and.....yummy.

I also used them in my cabin last winter and they seemed to do a good job.
