Has anyone ever found a cheaper supplier of a Yanmar 1gm10 con rod .
Extremely expensive!

You might find that in the case of the 1GM10, Yanmar are the only supplier.

It is a very simple engine, but very few have major internal work done like con rod replacement.

Most with a duff one buy a complete used engine.

Someone on here might have a donk with a duff head through overheating.

Unfortunately the 1GM is a one off design and although con rods are known to bend, usually as a result of a hydraulic lock following water entering the cylinder there is insufficient demand to justify anybody making "pirate" parts. Have you tried to straighten it? You might have luck for a used one from Cellar Marine in Cornwall.

They are, but it's a niche market that's blatantly exploited so there's nothing you can do apart from suck it up, which I've had to do at a cost of over £1000 in six years.

Thanks very much Yngmar ,i have actualy found one in America about the same price nd part number,ive ordered it ,but i got a message this morning asking me foe the sizes of my con rod to which i replied withe sizes request ,but no answer as yet.
i have now found a problem with the crank shaft ,the bearings on the con rod show little or no bearings and the sump has small slithers of the bearing in it. it dosnt look like all the bearing metal but it could be ,so the next step.
Remove the crank shaft .has anyone ever taken one out ,i have looked on toytube and cant find any videos,can anyone help, i yhink(know)that i must remove the crank shat nut at the pulley end ,but do i need to remove the sprung plate on the gearbox end and the nut holding on the flywheel or will the crank and flywheel pull out together ,and do i need to take off the starter . any info will be gratly aprceiated .
And hey Yngmar have you by chance seen an alternative supplier of the crank shaft,(i think i may be a bit cheaky with thal last request) but i did try seaching on both Temu and ali Express but to no avail so what did you type in to find the con rod,

Expensive little engines to rebuild. Apart from valves gaskets and exhaust bend, only bit I managed without paying Yanmar tax was a cylinder liner for 1gm10. Never used it.

It's funny, we sold the boat, bought a farm and needed a mini tractor. Went to the used tractor dealer and he had loads of Yanmar ones. I made a beeline for the only Iseki tractor. He asked why I ignored the Yanmars, they're fine machines. I said I remember Yanmar parts prices from their marine engines. He laughed and said that's true

According to the manual, 1GM10 doesnt use a cylinder liner, so it may be just as well you never used it.
