Compilation of Errors, or how-

The RNLI came out to proffer advice when I was down there several weekends ago :) I'm not going to name anyone who's name starts with oG :)

early days that Mr B :D got recovery off to a fine art just before selling the boat.. the last few trips got her on to the trailer at first try and motored up to the snubber within seconds in the usual sea state i.e. rolling waves from the passing big boats, sideways rip against a gusty wind etc etc.... of course, there was nobody around to watch those:D

Will probably launch and retrieve the Rinker from the pontoon slip if nothing more than to save the hassle of getting the tender out each time...

Can you tow that on a road with a 3.5 ton truck or is it just a yard trailer ?
Great post :D

Pete,the long answer,
from what I've gleaned over the years of British towing law, there is no way, even before European rules and regs that this could go on our roads,it only has brakes on the front 2 wheels length overall is something in the order of 12-13 mtrs width 3.2 mtrs all up weight around 6 tonne, plod would have a field day, although I get the impression that the rules are difficult to qualify sometimes, such as length, there is a maximum length you can tow excluding the draw bar, which makes it interesting on a boat trailer where the trailer chassis ends and the draw bar starts! having said all of the above it wouldn't take a great deal of work to make it legal although the end product would still require to be escorted, give 2 days notice to plod and other carp.

Short answer, yard trailer:D

Great report, but how did they get the Pick-up and trailer off the beach?

Cheers

Al.

Al, the truck did eventually get it's self off the kitty litter, at cost of a clutch by the smell and smoke, although again I'm almost certain he didn't use low box or diff locks, my reasoning behind that thinking, is because of the amount of stalling and clutch burn, ok my pajero ain't brand new like this L200 but even with six tonne of boat, trailer, and buried in water at the bottom of a slip gradient my old truck pulls it all out with no dramas at all, as for the trailer the owner and two of his mates just dragged it off the shingle onto the concrete runway and hooked on to the truck put lighting board on and went!

Here's a photo trying to show you how big this slipway is,it's wider than the words KEEP CLEAR. which then brings into context how dumb is a dummy not to use it!:D

Thanks for the clip E, very nice.

We had a fleet based at Lake Macquarie, Rathmines, (New South Wales) during the war, the trailer sailer guys still use the old infra-structure today.
