Tooke delivery of a can of primer/tie coat from Compass at the weekend. Thinner is described as "Compass Thinner", same fiddle as Blakes etc then.

Anyone know what it is really? I'm not paying clever prices for a litre or so of white spirit if I don't have to.

Tried smelling it? I thought most boaty thinners were in one of 3 categories: white spirit/turpentine, cellulose and whatever "antifouling thinner" is.

Just for the record 1:2:4 trimethylbenzene is used as antifouling thinner.
