In our new to us boat "Skipper" is now used to jumping up the companion way into the cockpit, unfortunately on one recent occasion we had put the hatch in place when he heard a noise out on deck and went flying into action only to come bouncing back off the hatchway
Fortunately he was not hurt to much and his teeth are still intact. We now have go faster stripes stuck to the hatch which don't actually look to bad...quite snazzy in fact, We hope this will prevent it happening again
BTW should mention that "Skipper" is our working cocker spaniel
