I thought it was a joke...then it gradually dawned on my simple brain that it was serious....no, in the words of Victor Meldrew I found myself saying.'You cant be SERIOUS..............' but they were and I found myself paying the unbelievably outrageous sum of ..................for a single banjo bolt for the input to the fuel lift pump on my AQD32 (volvo...s'pose you already guessed that!)
No peeping at price lists or asking for quotes...come on chaps and chappesses, how much do you think...?

Sorry sir the banjo is notavailable as a part, youhave to buy the pump & piping, which has been changed in specification, so for your engine you need kit....plus....total cost 150 plus vat!!

About 7 years ago, I lost the prop, prop nut and the cap head bolt that locks the prop nut.
I had a spare prop, and called in at the Volvo dealer in west Cowes.
The prop nut was £44 and the cap hd bolt £9
So add 7 years inflation etc: based on this your banjo bolt should be about £2-3M
( unless it was the more expensive gold plated one )

Just apply DS\'s law of marine economics

All things "marine" have an unfortunate pricing uplift and by my reckoning this is somewhere between 400 - 500% of non-marine stuff. Any and all spares / chandlery are outrageously priced. I bought a new Suzi 100 for my boat and as I was craning this thing in to my car to transport it, the salesman said "mind you dont scratch the cowling sir, they cost £700 to replace" WOT - Just for the cowling!!!

Do what?!!!!! I'm glad its under warranty and I look forward with horror to the day that it isn't.

Yes David she is an ex T.C. patrol launch still in her original colours which can cause a few worried faces from time to time. As far as critique... not me mate, learned at an early age never pass comment on someone's driving or choice of boat. Much later learned the same about websites. Suffice it to say your website doesn't make the mistake of tons of bells & whistles which are great fun to create but an instant turn off for surfers.

Byron old chap

If your launch is fitted with the mermaid diesel keep an eye on the cam belt. I had on go on me when driving the patrol boat Colne across the front of Chertsey weir with the river in full flood. It’s a great attention getter. The other things to do are to make sure you operate the fire pump occasionally to stop it seizing up and to make sure the rudder stops are ok, otherwise it almost takes your hand off when you go hard astern. Other than that they are great boats.
Did you know that the hull is a direct scale down of the frigates that were being built at the time. That why the are so good wash wise.

Hope you have plenty of hours happy boating in her. They were great to work with

Chris.

Re: or about 3 gallons of petrol for BarryD..nm

think the cirrect description is ukelele/banjo but might have known ther'd be a pendant about - always is when you dont need one!
And I know petrols expensive but even Barry D would have got about 10 gallons sureley.... now i'm being a pedant..mind you he'd use it up a lot quicker than I would so maybe your relativities are about right if converted to miles per knot or whatever.

Re: So you think thats expensive

Try 122.00 + vat for a weedy little 6" long leg hose, by the way sir we dont have one in the UK,but we can get one fast from belgium but only if you will pay extra for carriage.Went to local hose man 20 quid. Mind you its not got volvo written on it.Found out later could get one from keyparts for £50.00 and in stock.

7.6G in thieving Ramsgate 9.8G in nice Eastbourne!

Added whoosh is fun, but expensive. LPG is great, unless you've got a large fuel barge behind you then range is limited.
