The Colvic Seaworker 22 cost £15,000 in 1988. It has a 7' 9" beam and displaces 1.25 tons. The builder was W.L.Bussell of Weymouth.

Any of the above any help? From memory I think a 180hp Volvo gives about 22 knots... but I'm getting old an my memory could be wrong.

Byron, I thought it was built by Man Friday Marine in Crediton, Devon, tel 01363 83892, worth giving them a ring, if I'm wrong tell them an idiot off the net gave you their number.

There are at least two marques of this boat, the latest is a planing hull and will really motor, some were fitted with Mercruiser outdrives up to 150hp, however the early ones are displacement and usually had 40hp Mercedes or Perkins in them, these of course are shaft driven, these are capable of about 8 knots with a following wind. Have a mate with an early one may be able to find out more.

Yo John, more than likely mate, Colvic's were finished a'plenty at home too. The dudes I named were the ones who finished enough off to make a Bristows Rating.

Spoke to my mate and together we have gleaned the following, pre 1982 they were displacement hulls, and since then semi-displacement. The quickest early one he knows of has a 100hp Yanmar and she does 12 knots, the post 1982 model we know of is a dog house rear wheelhouse version powered by a Mermaid 180 turbo and she does a good 20. Hope that this assists

Philip Bristow for many years produced an annual book called BRISTOWS BOOK of YACHTS.
I haven't heard from him for over a decade so he's probably gone to that big marina in the sky.

Andy, If it is pre 1984, it will be displacement and should have bilge keels, if it is later and semi displacement it should have a moulded strake at the water line, sorry I cannot help any further. If you ring my mate Dave on 01279 876393, and mention my name he should be able to assist

If your boat is white inside it will probably do about 6knots max
You will never catch cod, bass or any other fish over 2lb
If you did you would probably engage free spool and handline it
