I am looking at different varnish/sealer systems for my wooden sloop. The product COELAN has been recommended to me and so I am looking for any information that may be available from people who have used it before. If anyone out there has any tips/ advice etc I would be most pleased to hear from you.

Thanks in advance
John

Shout as loud as you can, it seems as though there are not too many people out there who have used this product.

I would say that the best varnish for wood is an old fashoned traditional long oil varnish which dosen't dry too hard thus remains flexible, steer clear of the modern poly's. which are harder and longer lasting but may crack after time.

If your Coelan falls into the first category then go with it.........

Hi,I have used coelan on my boat and found it to be a superb product.
I have an chan-wai trawler yacht and they suffer from leaking decks, after a coating with coelan this has been cured.
I think with this product a lot depends on what application you are going to use it for ,it is expensive but then if you only need to do it every 7 years don't seem to bad.
The best people for advice is K J Howells 01202665724 very friendly and helpful.
If you need anything else EMail at stephen.hall157a@ntlworld

As with regards to its flexibility you can paint fenders with it it is totally flexible, almost like a clear rubber coat the only downside is the amount of coats to get the recomended 1.7 mm thick makes whhat ever you coat look a bit plastic.
