I'm planning to have a cockpit canopy made for my boat over the winter. I'm East coast based and would like to hear of any recommendations. A few years ago I saw a very good example being newly fitted in Woodbridge but unfortunately have lost the details.

Any help greatly appreciated - thanks in expectation.

We are in the process of purchasing a cockpit enclosure from Wilkinsons Sails who are based in Burnham and Sheppy. I have not seen an example of their enclosures yet, but they come highly recommended and seem very helpful and keenly priced.

We had a replacement sprayhood made for our Westerly Storm by Quantum Sails at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and it is excellent. Has endured two seasons in the Med plus some fairly tough Atlantic and N. Sea passages. I can recommend them.

It was not the cheapest quote but a fellow Storm owner who did go for a cheap option has regretted it ever since -- especially when he saw ours.

Quantum at SYH are now trading as OneSail if you wish to contact them. John or Brian will help you out.

Sail and Cover at Woolverstone has just made us a sprayhood, very good, and a canopy which fits very nicely and makes the yacht a "deck saloon" when in port. Can't comment on longevity though. Efficient service.

If you are anywhere near Tollesbury I can recommend
SB,Woodrolfe Road, Tollesbury, Maldon CM9 8SE 01621 869743. Last winter they made a new sprayhood for my boat. Lester, one of the two owners, will measure your boat and make and fit the hood/canopy to your satisfaction - a bespoke service. Not cheap but usually offers a good out-of-season price. ‎ Might even be worth popping your boat into the marina at Tollesbury for a week or so?

Who ever makes it make sure you they build all the space and height possible into it. We had one made last year and its the best thing we ever did.
