Cobbs is a great place. The only inconvenience is the bridge - but you soon get used to working around it. At low springs you need to keep to the channel and the depth alarm goes off a bit, but not really any problems. Soft mud anyway.
Andy Osman (the manager) leads a team of well motivated and customer focussed staff. Great facilities (new loos and showers) and convenient car parking. Yard full of marine services to hand. No sensible food or pub close to hand (the yacht club there is a bit ordinary) so it's a cab ride in to town.
I agree with the previous post but, it is not pretty, and ordinary is flattering the
"yacht club". It is tatty the carpets are sticky and it is not much used by berth holders but mainly by locals from the nearby estates.
The bridge only allows very limited access and this will be much worse when they add another lifting bridge in the next couple of years. Currently going out is not too bad but coming in is a pain. Timing is critical with only a 5 minute "window" every 2 hours( 0930 to2130 only, less in winter). From the end of the fairway to the bridge is about 4 miles and in a sailing boat at 5 knots it is about an hour give or take depending on tides. The greater speed range of a stinky makes precise timing less critical. Also depending on air draft the bridge may not be a problem for a stinky.
