Link takes you to a download of an .exe file - looks dodgy to me...

Yes, well dodgy. Link points to location where you can click on a Tiny URL which takes you elsewhere. Then you get the option to download a file which is an EXE and if you try to close the page you get a Windows lookalike requestor requiring a click to leave page or stay on it. Clicking then pops up a request to click and install FlashPlayer.

Dodgier than a very dodgy thing.

PC I used is dedicated to browsing and runs in a Virtualised environment, also due for replacement soon. So no harm done, just interested to see where link went.

Not worth the bother. You can get a complete set of up-to-date Admiralty charts of the UK & Ireland for OpenCPN for not much over £30.

Unless you are looking for vector charts or a bit further afield than UK!

Yes, i am not living in UK area and plan to go a bit further. So looking for working vector charts for my plan.

Agree with those who say it isn't worth the bother. Easy enough to get them from various Torrents (it's a pretty big download), but a) they are vastly out of date and b) the level of detail is inadequate in confined waters. Fuirther points are that although widely available, they are in breach of copyright and that getting a safe download without the potential for getting viruses is a matter of pot-luck. I have a copy, but frankly would only ever regard them as a planning tool at most.

I'm not sure that I agree with that if you have set the detail level slide bars and tick boxes correctly within OpenCPN.
