Clyde Scuttlebutt meet up. April

Ian,

Got the old girl working again yesterday but it was bl..dy cold up at Loch Riddon with up to a 6 at times. I won't be at the CWC unless the pontoon is guaranteed AND favourable SW light winds given Farewell to Arms experience last year. Look forward to your report and Accuweather's.

Cheers
Tom

As of today the pontoon appears to be in good order and well positioned although the gangway looks secure when vied from the road i could not make out if it is new or still the old one.
All looks good for next wk end.

Ladies Gentlemen & Scuttlebutters check the Weather!

The discussion downt Club this afternoon was with regard to some unpleasant weather which is forecast for later this week ..... with talk of 8's!
It would be a moderate inconvenience to Moi to reschedule because I've booked Friday & Monday off as annual leave but it could be done!

Just spoke to the Cumbrae Watersports Centre and we are good to go.:):):):)

Looks like we are in for a bit of wind but it's all from the west so should be OK.

Yea, some of the 'senior members' of TCC are hoping to get to scuttlebutt but are making preparations for a pontoon party if the weather isn't brullyint.
Beware of contamination by pessimists..... It looked alright to me, but I know my place, and will do as bidden by SWIIC....

Well! ... if it's too rough for a 'little-one' to put it's nose into the gale & rough seas to take a beating I have me-gee-tar, a few bottles of snooze-juice & me-boat is warm & dry ... plus! .... I think I still have 9/10's of a bottle of 'Rusty-N' ... :)

So what's the roll call looking like?
Escapade and at least some of the usual team will be there on Friday only? Looking forward to it.

Geoff

Spare me the effort of reading 17 pages of posts please. Is there a raffle, prizes willingly donated, gratefully received, for the drawing of?

Ladybird splashes down tomorrow morning and hopes to be at the CWC on Friday.

Looks like all the usual suspects plus a few newcomers - it should be fun.

There is a quiz which will hopefully raise some cash for the RNLI and Cancer Research - no raffle or bake sale this time though:(

Very interesting th way the forecast keeps changing for the coming weekend . Windguru now showing nw for sun which looks better but sat a wnw could be tricky. It only tues so I'm sure it will be wrong. The Clyde north of the wee cumbrae has its own weather system anway and loch fyne never has it right so exciting times ahead.

Hummingbird launched today and so far everything looking good.
Hoping rigger comes tomorrow to secure the loose roller reefing foil joint screws, so cant fit foresail until he is finnished.
Our intention is to depart Rothesay dock between 1200-1300 on fri and head for the cwsc.
Not sure if I will be going to Portavadie though.

Better have a look at this: http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?359244-Weather-Thursday-winds-heads-up

I think it's all further south, but it might be worth watching Simon's video. My internet connection is a bit dodgy at the moment or I'd have a look.

I managed to look at the sequence, and it looks like the strong wind will be further south - indeed, it looks nasty for East Anglia, where I'll be (but not sailing). But it does look as if any small change in the track of the low pressure could make a big difference to the wind.

On the whole, Simon seems to be pretty good, so I tend to pay attention when he sees fit to post a warning.

Hope it's a false alarm and you all have a great time! Pete is taking Capricious, so please stop him doing anything I wouldn't ;)

I really don't want to say this.....

Especially after the lousy-ish summer / season we (most of us) experienced last year ..... but I'm out ..... :(

No sails & the only consolation (which I can do almost anytime) is a trip to the 'Pictures' to watch the new Star Trek movie with the Kids.

Looking at the weather the wind doesn't look to bad at all (at the mo) .... so have a good one Guys & Girls & hopefully I'll see you sometime during this season at one of the many events & festivals.

OG.

Another drop out I'm afraid - Littleship 'phoned me a wee while ago - he was heading to Rhu on Saturday for a meet but has decided to head straight there tomorrow as the weather on Saturday looks so bad.

Serendipity was due to be launched tomorrow, but the weather has conspired to mean that the antifouling isn't quite finished and the topsides are in need of some attention and more to the point, I have been called for an interview for a job down south.

So my apologies, but instead of launching and storing ship and heading down to meet up, I will be on a Sleazyjet plane heading South and Serendipity will stay in her cradle for another few days.

Have a great time and I will fly the burgee and hope people come and say hello sometime over the summer.
