Clyde Scuttlebutt meet up. April

I reckon that the dangers of dinghies are best avoided.

It's all part of the fun .... while we are all still fit & able ..... I would even run a Taxi service if required .... ;)

plenty other trips to Brodick during the summer hopefully

I hope so too! .... :)

A good choice if the wind is westerly; not so good from NE to SE.

It is quite 'posh' ..... the staff are friendly and helpful .... + they often have acoustic music and the food is lovely.
But I do agree about anything with an East above a F3-4 makes it quite extreme in the bay (got the T-shirt .... as they say).

Looking forward to seeing (having many a Beer with) you all wherever we decide to go ... (Y)

+ if we ever decide to go to an anchorage .... I would recommend Kingscross in Lamlash bay ..... absolutely beautiful with a lovely shingle beach..... & I would guess there is room for about 14 yachts .... possibly more.

Clyde Scuttlebutt to Portavadie?

There's a new bar?! :)

Make that a +1
Yes, The Lodge at Portavadie. See sample menu http://www.portavadiemarina.com/media/cms_page_media/24/Lodge%20Menu%20October%202011.pdf

It's a gentle stroll from the pontoons. We used it last summer. If there is enough room, then it would be an ideal place for Scuttlebutt - everyone in the same area.

Have a look for my almost new Tilley hat - I left / lost it there last year - didn't have my name in it!

Nice idea - it looks lovely.
However, as alcohol tends to be involved, I think that somewhere where we can walk ashore may be better - my preference anyway. I realise that this limits the number of places we could meet but I reckon that the dangers of dinghies are best avoided.

I agree with you Pete and vote for Portavadie.
Although not sure if new job will prevent me from going, yet.

Just a wee bump in case anybody has missed this.
I guess nobody is interested in a quiz this time round?
At least we have the Friday night mooring agreed on:D
If any of our Southern chums are interested in attending please let me know and I'll try and arrange berths.

Sorry, I was dozing in the back row. Awake now.
Revised date is good for us, and Porta-V is acceptable. Last time I was scuttling there we gate-crashed the Kip barbie in the rain, this time it will be wall to wall sunshine.
Done the lodge and found it very reasonable.
Sahona's ready to go once the captain has cleaned the rib and made the beds. I will supervise.

In Fact!

Can everyone who can play bring their instrument ..... as (If peeps don't want to be disturbed by any music) we can use the wet-room next door (so I've been told).
And may I suggest (if you don't have or want to create a Facebook account just borrow one) we post any good/favourite songs on the 'Acoustic Links' group. So that we can practice/learn any songs & styles we don't already know to hopefully generate a successful knees-up/ye-hah/shin-dig/sing-along.
Apparently (I only found-out today) last season some people were expecting a song or three from myself ..... but .... no one said anything to me until today!
Anyway ..... I'm totally flexible as to what, where & when ..... but my vote will always be for live acoustic music! :D

John, is that not because you did not appear up from your boat until everyone was leaving the Cumbrae centre?

It's nice to know I was missed .... thanks! ...... but-but-but ... no one said or requested anything!

And I became engaged in curry-munching, beer-swilling & dit-spinning with a coupe of 'Owd-Shipwrecks' who I hadn't seen in over twenty+ years! :)

I wasn't aware of anybody requesting anything - except yourself:p
You had been banging on all week about being in the same quiz team as Lady Stormrider and then when you didn't show she was heartbroken:D

Escapade and her assorted Motley Crew hope to be there. Portavadie suits us well. It been a while since we've been there. Last time we were there a guy from Dunoon was pretending to be a French waiter in the restaurant.

Looking forward to it

"Quizmistress" ... I like that.

Lady_Stormrider ..... I'll just have to sing some 'foot-stomping' songs then to stop you falling asleep! ;)

& A great big SORRY for not making it onto your team last time (not that I would of been much help). As I would of just enjoyed being on the winning team for once! :)

You must be an/the/our Oracle ..... if you can predict the weather seven weeks in advance .... now our Simon has his work cut-out for him ..... and if you can predict six winning numbers for moi! ..... I'll give you half! ..... :D

Plus can some of the Fleet provide some requests so that B-Rat, That Dragon & this Owd-Barnacle (+ others?) can have a practice before we get there ..... :p

Just put me on 'Team Scumbag'

..... :D
