How many fishermen on trawlers leaving the harbours in winter do you you see in £300 fashion jackets?

I am sorry, but that is just nuts for a day out for gods sake. I can see the point if you are going to wear the same clothes for 30 days non stop but not a few hours pottering on the river.

what a joke.

Sorry, I think you are confused, the jackets are £500, it's the trousers that are £300. The jacket is fantastic but it just seems an awful lot of money for the trousers to cover a small part of your legs between the top of the boots and the bottom of the jacket. I even had to think hard about their sea boots at £180, but they had a sample pair in some water showing they were waterproof, I don't know if fishermen use them.

The HPX and GoreTex material is waterproof and breathable unlike oilskins.

I just need to sort out gloves and head gear now.

£500 for a jacket! £300 for trousers! Are you mad? Or do you just have money to burn? And why do you enjoy telling everyone how rich and stupid you are? And this to wear on a motor boat where you'll be warm and dry anyway!

Or maybe this is another troll.

He actually only paid £170 for the jacket - he rang me and asked my opinion. At that price it was a good deal. I bought one some years ago for £150 - would never have paid £500 that is mad and bearing in mind my kit gets more use than most even then it's still shed loads. They are usually last years colours. Note that he said he drew the line at paying £300 for the trousers.

Calm down dear, its only pixels on a computor screen. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I just appear to have spent 150.00 quid on a collection of rubber O rings and four slightly larger squares of rubber which allow my heat exchanger to snuggle nicely in its little Green box.

Thanks Dave, seems there are a few stressed up people about /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif And how about WHAT you spent £300,000 on a boat /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif OR even the recent purchase of a £350,000 ish purchase of a Princess V45 by a forum member, IS HE MAD as well, has he money to burn, is he showing his wealth off? Perhaps we can all live and let live. Is this meant to be a charity forum for secondhand cheap goods, perhaps there could be a new forum set up for cheap charity priced stuff to keep some happy and stop bitching like jealous school kids /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It's all relative, what is pennies to one person is a shed load to another. As someone said a few weeks ago some people think that ANYONE with a boat is RICH, so the food chain continues down and down /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If nobody bought the nice new expensive stuff then where would everyone get their secondhand boats and stuff from, quite simple really. Anyone on here who has bought a secondhand boat, one they could not afford new is a prime example. Best we keep those new buyers going to feed us :-)

I really think we need three levels of forums to stop the bitter and twisted jealous types making a fool of themselves, perhaps Upper Class, Middle class and Skip, that way like minded people can chat without being disturbed by the disturbed few.

I would look forward to any scraps the Upper class would toss down to me, and I would take pleasure in tossing some scraps to the Skip guys and girls.

This is not of my making just what is being perceived by some bitchy replies. Any views on this, would it work, and where would the cut off levels be? :-)

My only concern is that you might get a bit OVER HEATED.

And that such a jacket for use on the Thames in October might be OVER THE TOP.

I have a coastal Musto jacket, and only wear it maybe 5 or 6 times a year. If I wore it now, there would be HOT AIR coming out of my ears.

dv.

Wondered how long before the accusations of 'bitter and twisted jealousy' came out. Do you know any other tricks, Pete, or is that you're only one...

FWIW, I bought two sets of Century brand gear from Milltech, before he sold the business. I've just reproofed them, as the seams weren't perfect, but toasty warm even in January. £120 all in, if I recall.

Sounds like you got a good deal, but do you really need the gear Ellen would use? Coastal gear would have been more like it, rather than ocean grade, I'd have thought.
