Clothing for winter boating?

Balaclava's? I had a look in South London but it seems you can only buy the set at the moment, they won't split them /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif What on earth would I want with the sawn off that's the other part of the set /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Wait a minute....that's got me thinking...... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

For good hats and gloves at non boaty prices go to the shop just by the Red Jet terminal in Cowes. Thinsulate hats and balaclavas plus waterproof gloves - not more than about a fiver. They are just as good as anything from the boat shops and cheaper enough to throw away when they get wet to often. It's Advanced Powerboat course time now and on night X's the hands get cold and wet. I have about 6 pairs of gloves from there and I also wear a pair of latex gloves under them.

I have seen some Goretex gloves for £180 a pair, apparently they are waterproof, breathable and keep your hands warm, would that save wearing the latex gloves under them? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

They do not make gloves for you 5 fingered Grand Cayman

Being one of those whos boat smells of fish, I wear an anglers floatation suit in the winter. The quality and specifcation of them these days is very good and the price is very reasonable.

There are some Here

I use and recommend the Mustad one here But they are all very similar.

SWMBO Cold Weather Sailing Accessories

These are what my better half uses. Gloves are "Sealskinz" and have been widely recommended here. Ours came from an outdoor shop but no doubt chandlers can supply as well. The hat is Henri Lloyd, waterproof with fleece lining. I don't wear gloves, because I find rope handling keeps my hands warm anyway.
