Clipper Navtex

I tried powering up my Clipper Navtex ( yes its old) and so far, after a few hours, all I get on the screen is a series of horizontal lines. I know it has an internal battery and maybe, just maybe it will perform after being on for 24 hrs, as suggested in the handbook. I've had a screen of random characters before and if left has worked ok after the battery charged up but never the lines. They also recommend rebooting by holding all 4 buttons in at the same time, which I have done
If I cant get it working I'll probably do without it but wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem?

It appears to be a common fault - I have no experience of it, but have seen it mentioned on these forums before.

Give them a call, I did a number of years ago and they were very helpful then

Had the similar thing on the Navtex on my last boat, the internal battery had failed and wouldn’t charge, I found an equivalent battery on the internet which cost about £5 and replaced it, after charging the unit worked.
However I think NASA Marine do offer a very good and competitive repair service.

Thanks for the replies - pleased to say that after a 24hr connection it is now working completely normally.
