I was sitting at home watching the rain this morning, a problem I have came to the front of my mind.

On my mooring my stern points south which means it gets the sun all day. This isn’t really a problem but some kind of shade would be of benefit. At the moment I rig an old Opie sail which is ok but not great. I don’t want an elaborate tent as I only have a small boat and want it easily moved or taken down when heading out.

My current thinking is modifying some kind of garden parasol and maybe rigging it using a rod holder. I thought I’d ask you guys as you always come up with clever ideas.

Thanks

Dave

Thanks, that is a clever solution. Looks like it folds down pretty small for storage also.

I’ll keep an eye out for one.

I have a largish white umbrella on a support and articulated clamp that slots into a sheet winch. The whole structure of the umbrella is plastic so nothing to corrode. Really quick to deploy and fold.

We have the same, though it doesn't have an articulation, just an insert for the winch, a bend, and a hollow to put the pole of the sunshade into, with the articulation at the top of its support.
