cleaning sails

Sounds painful - how do you damage your dong when cleaning sails?

Seriously though,

Look on Sailnet for some good stuff:

My sails are made of dacron, a polyester fibre (is it called terylene in the UK?). I have at various times cleaned them with Varsol brand of paint thinner or mineral spirits, or with a dilute solution of oxalic acid, followed by lots of water. No harm has come to the sails, they are 26 years old and still good.
