My ageging parents have an old Shipmate Dayboat which hasn't been used for 30+ years. It was #3 in the series.

This boat has given our family years of pleasure in the Lake District and Norfolk Broads, and we'd hate to see it scrapped, so we'd be happy for anyone to take it off our hands for FREE so my parents can down-size.

There's a split in the hull which should be reparable, and the trailer isn't roadworthy so you'd need a flatbed to pick it up, from Macclesfield, Cheshire. After being exposed to the elements it needs a fair bit of cleaning up and TLC, but it could be fun project for someone!

Some photos are here: 15 new items by Chris Morison. My mum also found an old photo from one of our 1980s camping trips in the Lake District!

One photo shows the mast and boom in the garage. We also have the mainsheet, jib and also a geneoa (small type of spinnaker)

If you're instested, feel free to call 01625 428340 - ask for Chris (me) or Ian (my dad, and sailing enthusiast back in the day).

While I feel your pain, she may not be recoverable. You can see from the marks in the cuddy that she has been full of water at some point; this will be very likely to have destroyed any internal woodwork such as bulkheads or frames, which will need to be replaced before she would be useable. Further, it will have put enormous pressure on supporting points, which could have distorted the hull beyond recovery (you mention a split; this is probably a symptom of damage elsewhere). It will need far more than cleaning up and TLC; she should be regarded as a bare hull needing finishing from the ground up. In your position, I'd be considering selling the mast and spars and any other readily removable equipment that is in decent condition and then scrapping the hull.

I'm really sorry to be a wet blanket, but there comes a point where you need to be realistic, and I fear that she is beyond recovery.
