The biggest problem with cats is making them look pretty. By nature of having a bridge deck which needs standing headroom, they look like a brick if anything less than about 40 feet long.

These days most cats are really floating caravans rather than sailing boats. Which is we love Tomahawk. She is a sailing boat first and foremost. the accommodation was almost an afterthought to performance and sailing pleasure.
Beautiful from every angle ?

Hi , standard ( only 18 made ) was 33 ( french ) feet but this one has had a few modifications before i got it ( and many since ?) including 3 ft sugar scoops / boarding steps and i have added a <> 6 ( Scottish ?) ft retractable bow spit , so 36 ( marina ) ft . water length . Got european “ boat of the year “. in year of manufacture so i recon she is a classic ??!! Certainly a classy lassie ?

Since the term classic appears to apply to anything more than 10 years old, I guess most boats are classics. They might be classic old tubs or classic old bangers but classic nevertheless.

I am at a loss to understand why people look at things this way. Every day products get better and boats are no different. Modern boats are way better than the oldies despite boats being a very very conservative market.

Tomahawk is a Gerard Danson design..

"Classic" doesn't mean better.
