I've just completed the Van de Stadt Seacracker 33 Class Assocation web site, complete with history, photos, owner's logs, A0 plans for downloading, Rating information, for sale section, etc.

Overkill perhaps, when you consider they only built 13 of the darlings!

Please take a look and tell me what you think! it's totally non commercial - not even a membership fee.

Whoops!

Nice site Humps, but as you say somewhere, you disclaim responsibily for accuracy, so I couldn't let this pass...

>The original moulds were owned by Tyler Boats (Kent, England) who produced a total of twelve Seacracker's.  These moulds were then sold to Tufglas who apparently produced a total of sixty yachts.... It is thought that Tufglas produced the vast majority of their yachts as the Tufglas 28, though, which is also known as the "Twister", also a Van de Stadt creation.<

I have before me the drawings for the Tufglas 28. They are marked as property of Tyler. My understanding is that Tyler moulded many models. When they moulded them for another builder they were unbranded. But when they sold them on their own account they branded them Tufglas. So there was no Tufglas company.

Secondly, the Tufglas 28 is identical to the Twister, but it was quite definitely designed by Kim Holman of Holman and Pye, not by VdS.

Excellent!

I added that bit last night based on much very confusing and contradictory information. You have clarified that well.

Tylers said they "sold the moulds to their Tufglas division". That explains why I can't find the mysterious extra 60 copies of my boat. Many thanks.

Re: Nice site, nice boat

Seacracker 33's sell for between £16 - £39K - rather like Contessa 32's it depends on the condition. At £25K they're good, at £30K they're (almost) perfect.

Trintella 29's sell for between £15 -£18K depending on condition. These are more common - and are seriously good boats.

A very nice yacht indeed. Surprisingly responsive in light winds and, from the hull shape and sailplan I guess they look after you in a blow too.
