Chris Evans

The industry to which I offer my pearls of wisdom has quite a few opportunities every year to large it up. There is a week in Cannes just before the film festival. And there are several awards which need to be handed out in the ballrooms of Park Lane. These evenings follow the time honoured formula of being compered by "someone off the telly". One year recently it was Chris Evans and he was fantastic. He kept it all funny and lively, made all the winners feel important and hung around to chat in the bar afterwards. A really top bloke. This is not the universal experience of these things with some "stars" who make it clear that they are happy to take your money but really wish they were somewhere else...coincidentally a feeling which is often shared by their audience.

I don't give a toss about his success. It's his constant reminding everyone about it that p*sses me off and as to his presenting skills I imagine those who love him also love saturday night TV.

Oh come on, does he really thrust his success down yr throat? No I thought not, this is Tivvy envy isn't it? And yes my swmbo was born and raised in Tivvy!!

Odd thread. Not sure why he gets to have the +ves/-ves of his life come out from hearsay/tabloids solely due to the fact he's bought a nice boat (from a UK mfr).

FWIW don't know the guy but like his broadcasting and whenever he's been in the same vague space as me (couple of times), he hasn't played the "celebrity"

My understanding was that he also donates his R2 salary/money to charity. I'm sure he does a lot more besides.

Hope he enjoys his boat.

His books make excellent reading; he uses plain English, doesn't name drop (as so many others do) and admits his mistakes. Thoroughly recomended.
However, one of the points he makes repeatedly is what a dreadful businessman he is, and he does make some VERY costly mistakes in his second book. £74million, if I recall on one project alone.

Its just a question of scale, I have made some seriously costly mistakes in my time costing many thousands before giving up, its just he can afford bigger cock ups. Good luck to him.

That boat belongs to Paul Gilbert the owner of Cala d'Or yacht Club and is berthed just below the entry staircase to the club.

Chris Evans did not charter the boat and was merely taken out for the day by Paul Gilbert as a friendly gesture which he has done to several people.

There is one or two holiday reps. who insist on telling clients that Just Ginger belongs to Chris Evans which I can assure you is complete rubbish.

And to think I've been telling people for the last 5 years that I've seen Chris Evans' boat in Mallorca. Never trust a holiday rep!!
