Looking at moving my boat to Chi marina in the next week or two.
Had promised my daughter we would stay overnight on the boat (if the weather isn't too bad).

Is it good there on New years eve? Does the Spinniker (Sp) bar do anything or will it be a quiet night?

It's got a new owner, and it's "all change". We've eaten in there 2 or 3 times since and have been quite impressed.

On the first visit, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up for a while until I was completely reassured that "he" had definitely gone.

No idea about New Year I'm afraid, but yacht club normally does something.

Great news on the new manager! The other guys was a mis***!!""!! F**""£"...... if you know what I mean. Now looking forward to my first trip in the new year!

Okay, thanks guys. Moving my boat there on Saturday so will have a look around Saturday.

I see that there is a CYC are doing something for new years, not sure if you need to be a member, not sure I would want to be a member either. Might be a bit too posh for me. :-)

No Spinnaker New Years Eve do this year I'm afraid, but there will be for 2008, thjough CYC do have a "do". The Chichester Cruising Club (a very informal gathering of bertholders) Xmas do was held last in the Spinnaker last Saturday - excellent evening, I still have the hangover to prove it!!

The "tame rottweiler" of earlier nonoriety has indeed moved on to warmer climes, and the new owner has already changed a lot of things for the better, including an affordable menu!! It's pretty quiet this time of year, but there's usually a gang of six to eight boatowning regulars there most nights, so come on in and make yourself known.

I reckon (unless you go mad) a Spinnaker meal now costs about the same as Yacht Club, but loads better, and you don't feel rough the next day. Seriously wondering about not renewing CYC in Jan.

Funny you should say that, but we've been thinking the same thing. Being on H pontoon, the Spinnaker is a tad too close though!! The recently formed Chichester Motor Cruising Club is a very informal gathering set up by a number of Chi boat owners (around 30 boats on the list now) - no committee, little formality except for a loose arrangement to meet in the Spinnaker on the third Friday evening of every month.

Last Saturday, we had the Xmas do, and around 30 came for a great evening, so if you are down, pop in to the Spinnaker and introduce yourself to those there - a great bunch to socialise with.

Glad to hear about the new management, I could never understand how being offhand with the punters was a sensible business model!

"I prefer my beef rare..." - "Well come at 12 and it will be, come at 2pm and it will be well done". We walked a mile or so across the fields to the rather nice pub at Dell Quay instead.

On the subject of the YC, Last year I had a look round (seemed very plush with a good choice of real ales ) but the cost of joining staggered me, so we didn't.

Thanks, I will. On my second boat (had my first for a couple of years) and haven't got to know many people into boating yet as up until the new one I used to trailer to Itchenor then out again at the end of the day.

On nodding terms with Andy (Itchenor ferry) and the Lansdale lot but that is about it.

Ordering the burgee for my boat so hope to meet lots of forum members soon. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

'Tis always a bit of a crack to have a good wham down there in the tender and upset a few dinghy's along the way. Got a nice new pontoon to tie up on, although there is a time limit of an hour, and it does dry out at low tide.

Re CYC - I think your first cheque to them will be for a little over £600.00. Also, they infuriated my daughter a while back by sending her a letter on her 18th birthday offering their congratulations, and in the next paragraph asked her for (about) £160.00 plus development levy, as she was no longer eligable for family membership. Needless to say she put it in the bin and won't come down anymore.

She's not 18 any more. Here's your introduction, and don't get any ideas! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif It is indeed............. I am sure it will give a new dimension to your boating. You need a fan heater and an electric blanket for really cosy winter nights onboard. We are also onboard for the weekend before and including new years eve, out to a dinner dance with friends then drinks onboard if were still standing. Have a great new year.

Will need to sort out shore power on my boat as it doesn't have it at the moment. But looking forward to it. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

If its a quick non permanent fix you need then you can buy a hook up lead from camping/caravaning shops with the correct plug for shore power and a circuit breaker thingy on the other that you can plug two or more 13A plugs into. Will get you over the winter without too much expence or without doing a full installation on yer boat. Like this one
