We have currently about 30 participants listed and 10 or so boats. i.e an average of twopointsomething bodies per boat. Is this the way to do it, or should we aim to take fewer boats, with more people aboard each = more interaction, a broader range of jokes and lamp-swinging, a chance for some people to get a bit of kip on the way over, etc?

Looks like the weekend of the 11th/12th is the best for getting the max number of people there at one time. Going on the 11th we will unfortunately lose TCM (who's doing something else yottie that weekend), BrendanS from the dark side who is going to busy tuning his exhaust and adding special wash making winglets, and Zefender - unless he learns to delegate in the next month or so.

Also the esteemed K Hollamby esq., will set up a private forum so we can sort out logic sticks away from the public gaze. Look for this to kick in early next week.

Understand and agree with your logic but wouldn't want to be too cramped such that discomfort impedes enjoyment. Personal preference (being 6ft6 and 18stone) would be for one or two less than the number of berths on each boat. ie 4 or 5 on a 6 berth, 5 or 6 on a 7 berth etc.

Second answer is that the skippers have got to have the final say as to how many they are prepared to take on board, so may be best to see what they each say is the maximum and work to that.

Ken,

Careful of over-engineering!

Maybe come the 10th (time off worked booked today) the wind will be F7 - F8 and the number of particpants may shrink rather suddenly. Those of us with older, heavy, boats can then pick up the slack by last minutes drop-outs, where some skippers feel uncomfortable and give all crew a chance to still join.

I'd say the more the merrier!

The winglet were a washout, - just made me plane higher with less wash /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Latest experiments pulling a scaffolding board broadside on from a bridle on the stern quite successful - can't get above 10knots but the 15ft tsunami wash v.impressive. Will fine tune in secret winter trials in preparation for an Easter 2004 solent terror campaign, in an effort to create monster 2000+ post thread on stinkie wash
