I did wonder whether the Irish ports were geared up in same way as France ? Is there now a standard pan eu bureaucracy approach if one ventures further afield to say the Canaries?
I have seen various lists of ports of entry. I'm planning to leave from Ramsgate at the weekend, Dover now being closed to visitors. I know Calais is on it because I emailed the marina and they told me to turn up, register my boat as normal and they will call the customs. But does anyone know about Dunkirk? Tide may make this just as good an option. I've emailed the port through their website, received no reply and not been able to. Find information elsewhere.
Thank you. I don't know anything about an App. Might you elaborate please? Radio seelonce about Dunkirk so far.I may not be fully understanding this. Calais suggested - Just turn up. Will you not be using the App to resister in advance?
It interests me as technology can let you down, esp away from home on a trip and ........... " Just turning up " is the sort of thing I sometimes end up doing ?
.
I found an app but unavailable on Google. There is no form for Calais, according to the email received from the marina manager and quoted earlier. I'm no wiser about my actual question re: Dunkirk. As for Belgium, the on-line form is clear, and you press 'submit'. Nieuwpoort from Ramsgate is possible. Still there at present and tomorrow probably! Nice smells of lunch. Will report progress.Well, someone mentioned an App but AFAIK it is just the form: "Marina immigration notice for non-Schengen citizens " To be filled in in advance of the crossing, here:
https://lehavreplaisance.com/library/file/PAF-le-Havre-Immigration-Form. anglais odt 2-1(5).pdf
Which is fine on my PC at home but on my mobile does not seem to be editable so not much use if you are travelling. I have a sneaky feeling that if you just turn up with the form filled in, in your hand, things would probably go smoothly.
Hence my interest in your trip, do let us know how you get on.

No, why would there be?Is there now a standard pan eu bureaucracy approach if one ventures further afield to say the Canaries?
Well I arrived at Dunkirk from Ramsgate. There was a posse of 'little ships' in and so it had been arranged that the police should arrive on site and they stamped all UK passports with no questions asked. They did go onto the pontoon but more to admire the boats I believe. I wasn't on mine and wasn't asked to be and no forms were filled. I guess at other times one might have to seek out the police. That's what happened with friends who sailed directly to Ostend. They submitted the Belgian form and, when the police didn't come along, went to their office and had passports stamped.I found an app but unavailable on Google. Here is text of email, and the attached form. Other attachment was a flyer which I have added as screenshot below as the pdf was too large for forum:
Hello,
We hope that you are enjoying a nice start of the sailing season.
As we are getting many enquiries from British sailors after Brexit, I thought it would be worth informing you about the easy procedure to enter France. I have therefore attached a flyer explaining the procedure, as well as the form that you need to complete before your arrival in Cherbourg.
I would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that Port Chantereyne will host the Drheam Cup race from the 13th to the 17th July 2022, which means that most visitors' berths will be used for the purpose of this event. We therefore very much encourage you to plan your cruise accordingly and to organise your stopover in Cherbourg anytime outside these dates.

I received that email too. My boat was locked down in Cherbourg until July 2020 and she was indeed very helpful. Several contributors here have posted versions of these forms. They are local to the port named in them - mainly in Normandy. I have posted my actual experiences of an email from Calais marina and of what happened yesterday, May 18th when I arrived at Dunkirk from Ramsgate so think I have no more to add.Magali Hamon has lead the management team at Port Chantereyne for many years. I am sure she wold be very helpful.

We've just arrived in Nieuwpoort from Ramsgate. Filled in the online form before arrival and went to police. They didn't know anything about the form and had to ring around. But ten minutes later all successful and stamped ?Well I arrived at Dunkirk from Ramsgate.

Theoretically yes - clear out of Cherbourg then clear in/out of Guernsey... But it would eat into your 90 days in the EU if you spent a long time in Guernsey. Once you are cleared into the EU (France) you do not need to clear in again but it would be sensible to fill out any marina forms showing you came from Cherbourg rather than Guernsey...Does anyone know if you need to check out and back in if you leave Cherbourg, stop overnight in Guernsey then into St Malo?
Which is exactly why I was concerned regarding the Preavis form -one of which specifically asked for a certificate number. Do most people put down an EHIC number? While you may choose to take out travel/health insurance you should get a GHIC/EHIC which will give you cover equivalent to a citizen in the country you are visiting. Normal travel insurance does not cover trips by private boat so you will need to get a specialised "yachtsman" policy which many would consider overkill for short term visits to Europe.

The EHIC doesn't cover you for an accident on a boat. I have, in the past, looked out insurance that did. Topsail insurance is one option; some regular holiday insurance covers coastal sailing, up to 12 miles off shore. Theoretically, that would include a Straits of Dover chanel crossing but I'd want to check before I actually did that! The EHIC covers you for emergenct medical cover in all of Schengen (GHIC in some of Schengen). But the Visa also requires repatriation insurance - so not sure what that means for those travellingn on a waiver.
