Thanks for the heads up, just checked and ours run out the week after we return from holiday next month, so I have just renewed them. If I left it until we might need them next I would undoubtedly forget.

Another reminder for you all, you need separate travel insurance for the channel Islands, the EHIC doesn't cover you.just checked mine & it runs out 19/05/16

Don't get a £2,000 medical bill like we did!

Alderley definitely not covered, that's where we were. Part of Bailiwick of Guernsey. Emergency treatment not covered either.Guernsey only i believe. not sure about Aldeney, Jersey is covered
It may be worth checking the precise details on that. A UK resident visiting the Isle of Man gets free emergency care, but this does not include long-term care or repatriation. Air ambulances are expensive.
Anyone visiting IoM who is not UK resident will face the full cost of all treatment. This includes Irish and CI residents. EHIC does not apply.

I had an unconscious crew on board and the doctor would only come after I confirmed I would pay his £80 call out fee.Has this changed over the years? Quite a while ago and before EHIC days I went to the cottage hospital on Alderney with a suspect broken toe (that's what comes of crewing barefoot on a yacht...), was xray'd and strapped up, all free.
Just curious...
Do IOM residents get free healthcare on the mainland?
Hippocratic oath my RsI had an unconscious crew on board and the doctor would only come after I confirmed I would pay his £80 call out fee.
