Hi Guys

Im pretty new to boating did have a little dawncraft before but had so many probs with the engine just sold it and left it for a while now just got my self a little 21ft cabin cruiser its in reading maidenhead and want to move it to oxford

most places want from £260 to £600 its about a 40 min drive and really dont have that kind of money since i have to now pay for mooring so was just wondering if anyone on here had a trailer for this to fit on or know of anyone else who could do it and of course i will pay you for your time

really would like to drive it back but dont have the time to do it and getting down there from oxford everyday would be pretty difficult and everything if you know of anyone or you can do it please let me know

many thanks

I was thinking of the amount it’s going to cost us to keep going down there and then coming back

wanted a boat for so long dreamed about one but so many have been so much more then i had so this one came up and i jumped in and got it maybe a little fast dont know but once i get it to oxford should be ok with the running of it

Maybe I was a bit unclear. You were asking about the costs of transporting the boat to Oxford.

My question was meant to say: why not just take her up by river instead of paying for transport? It had to be WAy cheaper...

It looks to be semi-displacement ie. would plane if a powerful enough motor was fitted (mind you, a lot of things would plane if a powerful enough motor was fitted!).

Thinking about it, the 21ft would create a 3 foot overhang on the rollers at the back and this is where all the weight (engine) is in a boat, it could tip the trailer up.

I could always lend you my teenage son to cruise it from Maidenhead to Oxford over a couple of days.

pssst....Martin didnt mention that his son takes their speedboat out on open water on his own.....he could probably show some of the old hands in here a few tricks :D

it wasn't the boat i was thinking about just didn't want anything to happen as not sure whats its like doing locks single hand on your own

A pleasant couple of days on the water. I'm sure somebody would deliver it for you by water for nothing more than the cost of fuel. Say about £30.

Thanks

would be happy to pay £100 all in

thats abit to get it to oxford and the other bit for someones time would you say thats fair ?

Hi my name is andrew i have been boating on the thames since the late 70s as a child on my mother and fathers boat, thirty years on still boating in our own boat on the upper thames just a few moorings down from my father.I would be pleased to move your boat it could be done easily in two days. i'm free this weekend, to cover costs £100 sounds fair for both parties, if you are intrested please contact me
