No, I remember what paraffin was like & perfectly understand why it is no longer wanted by most people.
In the 6 years that I have lived in France I have never read of a fire where paraffin was the cause. For many people it is a life saver as a back up heater, certainly in our house we have Electric Radiators in all rooms, and 3 calor gas fires.
But as I said most of the supermarkets sell 20 litre containers, and when the container is empty you take it to a large garage where they have paraffin on pump even cheaper.
All we need is 1 supermarket to sell these little "Furnaces" and Paraffin and it would start a rush.
And these Furnaces have a sensor so if you touch them they switch off immediatly.
I brought one back from France but wont pay Garden Centre prices.
