Seems good value for money. Presumeably you are suggesting it for engine cooling intakes, not for drinking water.
For drinking water I recommend WaterGem filters. They contain carbon and remove unwanted tastes. I have been using them for years.

Can't think of any good use for it.
Will not make any difference to tap water. Too fine for engine cooling water.
(perhaps for the electric seawater shower?
