Hi
I am wanting to leave my boat for a couple of three week periods due to family comittments in June and August. The first session on the south coast say Falmouth or thereabouts and then in August perhaps in the Padstow/Wadebridge area but there may be other locations as I do not really know this coast having mainly passed by. Marinas are too expensive for me and I am looking for ideas and local knowledge to help me plan this out in principle. Ideally I will be able to locate people with moorings they are not using and they benefit financially and I save money not using Marinas or I locate commercial moorings that are not too expensive for these short periods.
Any ideas welcomed.
thanks

I agree, Fowey is reasonably priced for long-term visitors. Expect the Harbour Master to move your boat around different moorings though.

Looking at your profile, I was reminded of Millstone for some reason!

However, leaving the boat in the upper reaches of the Fal may be very reasonable indeed.

That's a painful reminder of my making a rather large dent in the ground there however I did not feel very much due to the "Scotsmans Pack Anaesthetic" already taken. Pleased never to have made as big a mistake sailing...but there is still time!

I have left the boat in the little harbour at Truro without problems for a few weeks but it does not need many boats there to fill it up. I would also be worried about security on the pontoons on the river.

+1 for Fowey. Fowey is a good shout with added benefit of very helpful staff who will keep an eye on it for you. Permanent harbour patrol in the season as well as occaisional police patrols on the river and a comprehensive boat watch on both sides of the river so security is as good as it gets.
