I guess marinas in Venice are going to be expensive? Any recommendations, opinions etc. would be welcome. Thanks ...

I stayed in Sant'Elena marina and it was not expensive, 12 euro (or 25 can't remember, still confused by euro) for 12m plus 2.5 euro per person per day (cheapest way of sleeping in venice actually); it is a private port so they have no transit berths, although something can usually be arranged.

There is also a third port at Tronchetto, NW of the city where ferries stop, but I have never been there.
