Just re-reading the thread and saw the fuel line close to the exhaust post, this is great stuff and not expensive from here;

buying some for the webasto im fitting and they also sell leak proof silencer exhausts if noise is and issue for anyone.

you could also use exhaust wrap - Very good especially on marine silencers

Apologies are fine but it is always better to acquaint yourself with the whole thread which was not in any way about any kind of certification

I think the answer to that is obvious. They are not properly CE marked and they are not tested and type approved. No builder is going to install something like this in a production boat.
As an aftermarket DIY product though, they are great. Cheap, easy to fit and, in my experience, reliable and safe.

When I bought mine a few years back the heater had a CE sticker. I contacted the manufacturer directly and asked for a copy of the CE cert which they provided. The cert was issued by Udem in Turkey. The cert checked out on their website and Udem are listed on the official CE website. I am no expert on this. Thoughts?

All of this is of course interesting. The most important thing however is that the reports you hear on various sites and Facebook groups etc are almost always good and they have had a very good real life test.

If People dont want to try them or indeed trust them that is fine with me, what makes me laugh are those that have no intention of buying one but rant on and on usually getting the facts wrong

Apologies as I have nor read the whole thread, but can remember CE marking on china made goods actually meaning China Export, myth or not it made me smile as people seem to place great faith in it.

But as is typical of threads about these heaters there is a reoccurring rhetoric about lack of proper CE marking and that's one of the reasons they will burn your boat down.

It appears that the one I have does have 'proper' CE marking and its traceable.

I am sure others units are the same.

Add that to the many thousands in active service and that's plenty enough to reassure me. Not to mention the faithful service my unit has given over the last few years.

If people want to buy an eber or similar they can fire away, but they should keep thier assumptions to themselves. I am not referring to madabouttheboat by the way, despite the quote above.

Enjoying it onboard as I type by the way, and it's 1 degree C outside.

Excellent I particularly like those ones as they are CE marked and particularly good on electrical fires I understand. Is the filling material from China or does that have to be sourced locally

I’m not selling the heaters so not breaking any laws.
I still don’t give a jot about either CE and I intend to buy two heaters in the next few weeks.

The OP or anyone has the right to choose what to buy - That's it - can this thread get back to what it is intended for?
May I suggest that Boat2016 if you are that unhappy with the Chinese.,the "Russian" and any other make of heater that dis pleases you That you start your own thread

and just to chip in a little more - on a fairly new offshore platform that I have worked on in the past the lifeboats were made in China - now if the worst happened and flames started to Kiss my A@:e do you think I would be bothered looking for a CE marking before launching??

Paraffin is also known as 28 Second heating oil or simply kerosene. Red diesel is 35 second heating oil. I ran the one I fitted on my Corvette on kerosene and it always started without a hitch and never serviced internally in the 3 years I had it installed for.

The one in my workshop is also using kerosene.

All mine are on heating oil (Kerosene) and all work as intended and I have never serviced any of them. These things just work and the heat you get from them is incredible.

I imported a boat from the US and had to get the CE mark for it. And a friend of mine works in the cosmetics industry and certifies the CE marks on nail varnish and lipsticks and the like. It is an exercise in bureaucracy - they are desktop exercises - and to me adds no value in the context of a heater.

If it adds value to others then they are free to pay ten times the price for a very similar product with the sticker on the side

The fact that some people get so cross that they resort to schoolboy name calling when others choose to buy a product without a sticker says a lot about them.
