As we havn't sailed very far this 'summer' and have got quite cold and wet. We are thinking of chartering skippered or bareboat over Christmas. Cant afford the caribean or Indian Ocean so does anyone know what the Med. is like that time of year?

Must you go over Christmas?
I have just been looking at the Barefoot Yachts website at http://www.barefootyachts.com/html/yachts.htm
re yacht charter in the Grenadines, and their 'peak' season is 18th December - 6th January and 1st February - 30th April.
If you can go after Christmas, there is a 'mid' season from 7 - 31 January - OK, still more than the summer rates, but considerably less than the 'peak' rates.
I think that most of their charter boats are privately owned, and Barefoot just manage (and maintain) the boats - a pal here is going to be placing his Bavaria 40 with them for this coming winter season, as he has no time to use her.

Has no one told him it will be mistreated and he can expect some damage? Try to get some insurance for "Bare Boat Hire" and be sitting down when they tell what the cost is.
