I have have used my boat for the odd charter day on the south coast. My new boat arrives soon and that will also be availble for day charters. Plenty of companys offer a charter service and would usually add you boat to their fleet. Cowes week is very popular. There are quite a lot of boats doing charters aroun dthe southcoast so I guess it works. I have done a dozen or so days a year in the past will bring that down for this year.
All depends on what boat you plan to charter. Ribs do well, sunseeker superhawks always popular and then the gin palaces good for corporate work.
What about yellow code, what are the bits of paper you need for boat and self to prove you are up to the job.any info would be appreciated as i was considering the same
MCA charter code is available from HMSO. Most people reckon it will cost around £5k to bring a boat up to charter spec. To skipper her for charter, you need Yachtmaster with a commercial endorsement, and you'll need to change your insurance.

as stated elswhere though you have to have the boat MCA coded (£5-6k) depending on the size etc, plus you have to be commercially endorsed YM or insurance null & void.

MCA is prob the best way to go but if you are looking for south coast only then it will be possible again this year to have local coding which is not as strict as the MCA codeing.
