If I am engaged on a time and materials or estimate basis I usually just add a line on the bottom of the bill for consumables to cover blades, adhesive, fixings etc never yet had it queried and I suspect a lot depends on how you word the invoice.
But from the customers point of view I do get annoyed whent the accountants bill drops on the mat showing xx hrs @ £165 + £4.30 photo copying. For that sort of hourly rate I would lose the consumables...
