I have 128 watts of solar panels regulated by a 4 stage solar regulator. I also have a standard regulator on my engine alternator.

If I fit a wind generator or towed turbine type generator, can I keep my existing solar regulator and add a dedicated regulator to the wind/towed generator or do I need to fit one regulator to do the wind/water/solar load?
The existing solar regulator is only rated at 8 amps so it isnt big enough to do the lot. Any ideas?

You can get combined wind/solar regulators, but as you already have a solar one, just get one for the wind genny, it will all work fine.

Do you intend leaving all these running when not on board or are you also then connected to shore power?

If you only run the wind genny when living on board, normal loads will prevent overcharging and you can monitor volts manually and tie off the blades if required. A towed genny for sure can be monitored and simply removed if volts get too high. If you are on a mooring and want to leave the wind genny running then you must have a separate regulator.
