On top of all that's been mentioned do not forget travel insurance and in particular an E111 form - this is FREE from any main Post Office in the UK & enables you to claim back (in UK) cost of any medical expenses abroad.

Despite all the 'Advice' on various sites. Proof of Vat paid is not a REQUIRED document.
Similarly proof of insurance. Marinas way well wish to see it, and it is probably sensible to have details to hand, but as far as Customs & Excise are concerned it is not a REQUIRED document to have onboard for entry into an EC country.
