You can remove an impeller using two flat bladed screw drivers and gently easing the impeller out of the housing, but you must be very careful not to damage the inside of the housing.
I've modified a cheap pair of long nosed pliers by heating them up and gently bending them inwards so the tips touch. Adjust to suit your impellor size so that the tips grip the centre boss and you just pull the impellor out. Keep greased in a plastic bag and they'll last ages. Much cheaper than the Jabsco puller!
Only for tiny impellors in gennys or small sailyboat engines like Volvo 2000 series Yanmar 1gm etc: Then it wouldn't last 2 mins once salty water gets on it.
Jabso ones are stainless and come in 3 sizes. Small & stumpy / Small / Bigger. I dont bother with the stumpy one. David, Got the pic of the other one?

I have noticed you wonder around more often now without your camera. What with that, and the fact you pitched up in a suit today, are you feeling alright?
Camera was in my pocket, but I've got enough pictures of your boat ta! The suit was me in executive mode and just to prove I don't go around in Dubarry's and Musto all the time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
My other life. And before anybody says anything - yes it is a crap web site! Part of the reason I was in a suit today, plus I had to fire the sales guy!
