Don't forget Ebay also started from such humble beginnings. Given time, and a little support, it might blossom into a site well worth considering.

Had a look at site and started to register and then the inevitable requirement for my full address arrived and expected exploitation of same loomed, so Nah! not for me.

Your site appears to be commercial in nature, so you have contravened the Ts and Cs for these forums by promoting it here.

Also note you are trawling private details without obvious Ts and Cs and privacy policies on your site, which seems a fairly major oversight?

Here are some thoughts:
1. When you go into a shop on the high street you can browse at goods without leaving any details. IMHO this should be the same for any Internet shopping site. Once you order something then it's faire enough to have to leave your details.
2. The other poster was right. You will have to register with Data Protection Registrar but it's a nominal fee.
3. The difficulty is in making the site known and getting goods up for sale. You could potentially spend a fortune on advertising but get no where. For example I have no idea what it costs on this site to have one of those boxes on the shopping page. However, I do know that the number of takers has fallen dramatically so this may reflect the price.
4. It is very difficult to get going. Others have tried like boatjumble.com. You have to reach a critical mass. eBay does not have a huge number of sailing specific items and would not be able to support itself if it was limited to that sector alone.
5. I wish you luck. It will be an uphill struggle.

I had a quick look but didn't register - you don't seem to need to in order to browse.

I fear he may have made a mistake advertising the site with nothing for sale, people wanting to buy may well look, laugh and not go back. Maybe they should buy a job lot of bits from a 2nd hand chandlery to kick start things?
