I replaced the standing rigging 2 yrs ago (wires only) and would now like to replace the chain plates and tangs (?) and through bolts up the mast. Does anyone know if they are still available ??
I don't know about fittings on the mast.
As far as the chain-plates etc at deck level are concerned. Surely it will be adequate to inspect/replace the bolts fixing the attachments for the back-stay, the lower shrouds and the baby stay. Certainly replacing any with any rusty stains on or around them.
The A bolts for the cap shrouds are I think available from Trafalgar yacht services. Replacing those is an absolute must if there are any rusty marks around them (We had one fail on a Berwick) and worth replacing anyway.
Make sure you seal the new bolts well where they pass through the grp as a little water penetration can cause crevice corrosion.
My understanding is that Seldon bought Proctor. They market dinghy masts under the Proctor brand. My last boat has a Proctor mast from 1965, and Seldon (plymouth) put me on to a guy whose name I forget who bought all the old Proctor bits. In the end I sold the boat before I replaced the mast so I never spoke to the bloke. It may be worth ringing seldon to get his number. Sorry I can't remember the number, but it is written on the wall of our old house.
I hope this of some use.
Regards,
Nicki
