Heading to Italy from Prevesa in two weeks,

Looking for info on berthing and anchoring around Crotone and Castella

Has any one been to Rocella this year? are they still dredging? has the price gone up?

We not been in Rocella this year but friends have , there draft is 2 mts , they had no problems , Castella three options the small marina be where the gap between the entrance is a bit tight keep in the middle , depth once is can be a bit on the low side , our draft is 2mts and found once in only 0.4 below the keel last year , option 2 on the quay , it free but only use the first part as you go in or you will be turned away by the fisherman , be where the first bit of the quay did have a sunking boat moor just behind it , might have been moved now .
Option 3 in settle weather you can anchor in the bay east of the harbour .
Crotone .
There the marina on the south side or you can some time find a place on the quay in the main harbour on the Norht side for free .
Hope that helps .

Anchorage just to the left of the entrance to Crotone, l've anchored there and rowed ashore, no probs. Went to Rocella earlier this year with 46 ft Contest, no probs at entrance but give it plenty of room, ie go west first before turning in. Didn't bother signing in this time around as we were late in. Good pizzas ashore (as usual).

Agree with all above except never been to Crotone.

We left Preveza in May and did Erikousa, Santa maria de Leuca, Castella and Rocella. 11.6m LOA 1.6 draft.

Definite wide swing needed into Rocella, Francesco heard tearing off a strip of French boat that had not called for berthing direction.

Pizza Da Mario is a must in Castella. Water on quay not supposed to be drinkable.

We then made the mistake of going to Ripoffsto in Sicily to tour Etna, but that's another story.

Crotone: been there twice now. Best bet is the Lega Navale on the left as you enter the southern bit. They offer reasonable berthing rates, showers and loos and the wifi in the bar is excellent. Bar/cafe is run by an English chap, who was most helpful when we were last there. Over the other side, slightly more expensive and the facilities are not as good.
